Do I need special parts to build a Sport master gear case? I.E. Gears, carrier, prop shaft bla-bla-bla. Can I just tear down my stock 2.5 gear case and put the parts in the Sport master? Thanks Jim:cheers:

Unless your turning big H.P., why not just put a good nosecone on your 2.5 case? Why put the non heavy duty guts in a case like that?

to answer you question yes you can . but down side is how to change /add oil there is no drain in the case its in the HD carrier which is useless on a fishing mota case you gotta put oil it in before you close case or pour it down shift shaft hole before its on:eek: what about after its on no shift shaft hole its outa site so you pull the carrier?? cone your case cheaper just as good maybe faster dont know just my .02

Thanks guy for the info. I saw one on Ebay for $299 for the case and thought it may be a inexpensive way to have a lower unit with low water pick up. My boat is 1,140 lb. pad bottom flats fishing boat, it is a Lake and Bay Back Country 20'. Runs 63-65 mph on the old gps with stock lower unit. Also the prop is a labed and cupped 23 pitch Tempest Plus. I think the slip is like 7-9%. I am looking to get to 70mph with some more setup and I may do some engine mods.

it probably would not help you . try plugging the top 4 holes in your case 4 is enough to supply water to your mota, you will began to experience a lot of wheel torq the higher you raise it:eek: put a 25 trophy on it you may be surprised just like it sets Good luck jim

Thanks, I actually just got a 25 pitch Trophy back from the prop guy. It was getting blueprinted for me and I had a new hub put in it. It's the old style so I could not put a flo-torque hub in it. I am hoping it beings me down about 500rpms because I run about 6k and want to get down a little bit around 5800k rpms. I no thats only 200rpms difference but I think I am in my rev limiter or it would turn more.
