Got the new GoPro HD camera this past weekend, and it saves the files as .mp4, which is not supported in Movie Maker.

Any recommendations for a decent downloadable editing software? I tried a converting software and the quality was terrible. :(

Thanks!

I don't know of any good free ones, but if you want a fantastic easy to use solution, try Adobe Premiere Elements. It's pretty cheap too. I have Premiere Pro on my workstation, but I also keep Premiere Elements on it too for quick edits - and I am extremely surprised at how powerful it is.

Look at "bestbuy" for Pinnacle Studio which is for the most part easy to use. This week they have Studio Ultimate Collection on sale for $80. Regular price is $130 The basic package goes for $50

Actually, I have an older version of Premiere Elements here that I don't use. I'm not sure if it edits MP4 files, but if it does, you're welcome to it. I'll have to dig it up - I think it's from 2005 or so.

That would be great, thanks!

The software I used to do the couple of vids I posted earlier isn't too bad, but it doesn't seem to have a fade in/fade out transitions. I can buy the full package of that for I think $60.

I myself use Adobe After Effects and Sony Vegas Pro 9.0 Vegas Pro will handle MP4s and is a great video editing program and easy to use once you learn a few simple thigs. After Effects is more for doing video effects and such and is not for the novice really but will do regular editing as well but much more involved.
