Please read the articles on www.friendsofsilverglen.org (http://www.friendsofsilverglen.org) as I am sure it is very important to your future enjoyment as many boaters come from as far south as Tampa, Miami. I am sure many of you buy boats or own boats in order to enjoy our waterways in Florida. If they suceed in shutting down Silver Glen or "limiting access" to boats you know this will just be the begining. Next will be the rivers, they have already mentioned stopping fishing on the St. John's river what will be next? Or should I say which river will be next? Because as you know they have already restricted parts of our waterways to boating. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact Mike Blair and i will be glad to give you more information and websites to verify what I am saying. My e-mail addresss is mike@blairsjungleden.com

I hate to agree, but the big yachts and houseboats that stay there all summer long are dumping sewage overboard, mostly at night. Many of those boats do not move all Summer. I don't like the though of getting Hep A from their discharge.
I love boating at Silver Glenn and go about a dozen times a Summer. I would hate to see the Enviro-nuts shut it down using some abusers as an excuse.
I also think it should be illegal to have water hooked up to a boat at a marina too, since there are many living on their boats and not paying for sewage pumpout.
I have seen turds with toilet paper floating from the lines of boats at the long term slips at the marinas.

maserators should be illegal everywhere, yachts should be inspected and very heavy fines imposed if equipped with one.

The DNR and Coast Guard here will write you a ticket with potential jail time like you have never seen if caught with a functional overboard sewage discharge.

it is allowed to be functional, but the overboard discharge(seavalve) must be wired shut on inland waterways, as always, the acts of a few ruin it for everyone

same here, you best not get caught with a sewage discharge system on your vessel.

We use to go from San Deigo to Avalon in Catiliana in Ca. Before you could anchor up to the moorings the Coast Guard would board you boat and put DYE tablets in your head. If you refused you weren't allowed in the haurbor period. Believe me, they can follow the dye for miles if you discharged and waste. Maritime law is you can dump if your in international waters, but is this even right. The water there was crystal clear for 35-40ft down. Why can't the FWC impose the same law here? I agree, why is it that a few can ruin it for the majority. Castrate the ones doing it and not saying it is all males doing it either. Thants why there is super glue.

It is ashame that a few bad apples always ruin the fun for everyone. I agree that the houseboats and yachts need be limited to the time they stay "parked" in the springs! They should not ban boats but require greater inspection of the vessels that are discharging into the springs!!!
That being said, the springs flowing into George are one of Florida's treasures and I hope be be able to enjoy them for years to come!

Same in De Y pipe must be wired and locked big fine and jail. Maybe if they put a seal on them on inland waters. In Dinner Key the dirilick boaters just crap over the side dump some serious shat out too. But how do we performance boaters cause the problems? Rick

why not just have it as alot of parks, closed at sundown. everybody out. I've lived aboard, don't ask, but I have respected my surroundings. mascerators are mandatory on vessels built after their creation. keep folks out overnite. I garontee you georgia pacific in polatka and the hospitals that drain into the river contribute lots more "ick". what a world we live in, :nonod:

hEY GUYS GLAD TO SEE SOME RESPONSE TO THIS BUT TESTING HAS SHOWED THAT THE GLEN HAS THE BEST WATER QUALITY OF ABOUT ALL THE SPRINGS THE PROBLEM IS NOT OVERNIGHTERS OR DAY TRIPPERS ITS JUST IGNORANCE ON THE PART OF OUR GOVERMENTAL OFFICIALS. nOW WITH THAT SAID PEOPLE CAN GET CHECKED BY FWC ON THE DUMPING AS MENTION DYE BLOCK I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY ONE OF THERE OFFICERS THAT THEY DO DO THAT AND IT IS BIG TIME FINE IF CAUGHT. tHE PROBLEM IS ALOT OF THINGS THE PEOPLE WHO GET OUT OF CONTROL DOWN TO THE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES NOT ENFORCING THE PRE EXISTING LAWS ON THE BOOKS TO TAKE THE PROBLEM MAKERS AWAY. SO GOOD PEOPLE CAN ENJOY ONE OF OUR NATURAL TREASURES. SO LETS NOT BE POINTING FINGERS AT ONE ANOTHER WE NEED TO KEEP A COMMON GOAL AND THAT IS TO STOP THE "MAN" FROM CLOSING IT DOWN!KEEP YOUR EYES AND EARS PEELED AT THE WEB PAGE MENTIONED THERE IS GROWING CONCERN AND WE ARE HAVING OUR BOATING AND FISHING PRIVILAGES AWAY FROM US BY THE POWERS TO BE. AMERICA WE CAN STOP THIS AND I QUOTE "YES WE CAN"

The problem has been the solution so far. The big overnight boaters include a lot of wealthy Lawyers [They have asked us come aboard their boats during bad thunderstorms] and they have prevented the closing so far. It is quite possible they will also keep it open. Like has been pointed out, money talks.

I work in the marine industry, and I have to say that the sailboaters are the worst fo dumping sewage, they pretend that they are enviro sensitive, but some are to cheap to have or a working black water tank,I`ve seen some that pump the crap right out the boat! They park out in the bays then are too cheap to pay he pump out fee!One time I went in a marina to work on a boat and there were a group of bums on a sailboat drunk off their arse, yelling and laying on dock boxes, then came over to ask me if they could come on the vessel I was working on to check it out,yea check it for something to rip off probably. In wilmington,nc they have a big problem in a certain bay where sailboats park,it was on the local news about a fecal matter, high concentration, and didn`t know where it was coming from,I can tell you, the cheap basterds in the bay!

Mike, I hate to say it but once again in the "Glenn" they are looking for a way to take the easy way out! They did this several years ago when they, banned any aolochol from inside the Glenn, by making it part of a state park instead of just simply doing their job and arresting the ones who were truly causing the problems. Now, once again, they the proper athorities can't do their job by simply making the "squatters" move their boats after a qiven period of time, while all the rest of the time they have no problem harassing visiting boaters to the point of where WE!!! look for other places to go! Mike, you as a buisness owner should have complained long ago about the harassing law enforcment pressence on that end of the river. It's causting you customers! As far as the "Glenn" is concurned, they will once again take the easy out unfortunatly.

AGAIN VALID POINTS ALL I will say however that I am unaware of how many live aboard boats acually stay there 365 but its all our problem not just mine because its not just going to be Silver Glenn its going to happen on all our waterways this is just the start and yes there has been some well off boaters who have paid for attorneys but folks dont you understand that if you do not stand up and fight it you have no right to bitch about it. Now to respond about the statement that I needed to complain I have but for your info more people complain together the better chance we have to stop this. Yes they always want to take the easy way out and they will if we let them. There was a meeting held last night and a group ofconcerned boaters and business owners met here at our establishment and more will be posted on the web page earlier mentioned and we are taking action on this but everyone needs to stand together or every one will need to go by some potting soil to put in there vessel and plant dfaiseys in it because you will not be able to use them for anything else if this happens because like I said its not just Silver Glenn its all our waterways.
