Hey guys, anyone have a drawing or better yet, plans with dimensions for building an outboard engine stand for my 20" shaft V6?

Here's the one I did using and auto engine stand from Harbor Freight, clearence price $25, it was missing hardware, floor model. I made 15 degree wedges and bolted on a 1/2" aluminum plate with the bolt hole pattern drilled in it. Pulled my complete 3.0L, hung it on there and started to work. I also made an adapter to hold my lower unit when I service it. It bolts up to the aluminum mounting plate as well and holds the lower unit level and secure. I'll have a pic of that by the end of the month when I pull my lower for some work.

I built a couple like this. I think I have a sketch at work I can send you tomorrow or on the weekend if you like. PM me your e-mail address. This was taken before I added plywood two inches thick to create a mounting plate. They work great.

Note: The upper horizontal bar is not welded in and was temporary to keep the vertical supports from bending in when welding.

hey XS, what thickness stock did you use? 1/8"?

I honestly don't remember. I could measure it. It can be pretty light if you want, because for the size of the tubing it isn't holding much weight.

I'll go measure....

That looks great! I ended buying a couple of stands from a scream and fly regular at a reasonable price. Thanks:thumbsup:

I used 2x2x1/8 on the whole stand. I'll be hanging a motor on it in a few weeks. All I can hang on it now is this old clamp until I can get a set of motor mounts.

Any better pictures of just the plate. Because this would work good for me since I do have an engine stand laying around.. Dont need another thing to get in the way in the shop.
