Hi!

I am looking for some kind of "pop up" wind deflectors. I have seen a version used on Skaterboats where the deflector disappear into the fairing istelf - like a pop up cleat.

I do not have a windshield on my ol' Phantom offshore rig. It has a windbrake as offshore racing boats. But the noise of the wind is now very high - more than 110 dBA ....

I would be very happy to get some ideas where to get hold of those deflectors.

Cheers and thanks, Toffen - Norway

I have seen two companies that make them.
http://www.windaway.com/ and

http://www.finneys.com/

I got a set for my 28 Skater from Finneys and they were awesome. I haven't seen the ones that pop up..

I'd sure like to see a pic of how you decided to mount those.

Thanks

I made my own, from lexan and standard, but modified, stainless boat rigging parts, the design is similar to what I saw on pictures of Progressions

I sold the Skater to a guy out in Havasu. I don't know if I took pics of the boat after I put them on but I will look when I get home tonight. I have a 25 Talon now and I got some more wind flaps from Finneys but I haven't mounted them yet. I'm doing a total resto on the boat and then I'll mount them. I think I am going to have them cut down from the normal size. They are to big.

Here are a couple of photos of the Skater. You can see the Finneys wind screens.

Toffen, what size phantom have you got? What engine and speed, Kind of thinking about getting one after I finnish the vking, the vking is fast but you need ice flat days to run

Hi Alan!

I have a Phantom 25 with a Promax 300 SVS. It runs 77-78 mph spinning a stock A45 Tempest 25 to the limiter (6.300 rpms). I will buy a taller prop over in the spring and add some setback. Hopefully I will reach 80 mph.

I have tested the boat with 2 x 2.5 SS engines, and the top speed was mid 90-ties. However, the fuel consumption was 30 gallons an hour at 60 mph.

Just now I am counting down to April and a new season.
