I really like the look of the Paramounts that I see on here. Can someone tell me the difference in the years of boats. What years are most desirable, are there wood in the transoms, stringers, etc. What motors they will hold? etc....I really like them and kind of like my Key Hopper, those that have them really seem to love them. I will be keeping my eyes open for one but need to do my homework first..Thanks in advance:smiletest:

I've been studying up on the Paramounts, too. From what I've learned they moved away from wood in their construction in 1990 and went to a composite innerliner. Pretty sure max h.p rating is 225.

If you like the Paramount, check out this Motion

Great looking boat, and good luck with your sale. I am not ready right now but am planning on one for next summer, I figured I would start collecting info now to start looking in the spring

Digging the ?? thread back up again.

Can one of you Paramount guru's...BUD, Baja200merk, ... clear up a question in my mind.

The post 1990-something 21's have composite "innerliners". What about sub-floor. Stringers, transom, etc. Any wood, anywhere?

Still dreuling, but just got a box of kleenex. :)

i know my floor is wood and the bottom of the floor is just bare/exposed ply wood, Im guessing thats why its soft/rotten  Mine is a late 80s I dont know much about the newer ones.

Sounds like the way my Checkmate was constructed. A lap or two, here and there to secure the bare plywood stringers.

Have you gutted your Paramount yet?

Just wondering if the post-90 models still have wood in the stringers/transoms.

No havent gutted it been using it as a test mule for motors. I have a 150 merc on it again now :p just so i can video it running, makes for a much easier sale

From what i understand, you never know what you were getting with the first years of the liner boats 1990-95ish. I found wood:D in several of those that claimed all composite. my 95 and 98 were all composite, foam stringers transom and coring. They also offered a bahama model in the late 90s and 2000s that left the liner out with a foam floor, cheaper and lighter, my favorite!

Thanks Bud. that's very insteresting...and confusing. How would you be able to tell if you were looking at one..of the liner boats, as to whether or not it was wood or composite? Is there a way short of exploritoty surgery?

The bahama model sounds cool. I suppose if you started w/an older model (80's) and gutted it and went back with say, coosa board stringers/decking, then you would have something very similar to a bahama model?

The newer models are all composite. I wanna say 95,96-up. I believe they were still making them with wood for customers who wanted it for a while. That explains why some of the inner-liner boats have wood.

Open all the hatches, im sure youll find your answers without cutting. I dont think foam stringers came out untill the mid/late 90s. My pick would pre liner boat restored like you were saying, as long as you got a good deel on it or id love to find a bahama boat, btw they were called bahama editions because they were sold by the dozens to tha Abacos and Exumas boat rental companies. Be careful btw of a 21 in S Carolina, its a 88/89 that looks beautiful in pics but had a half ass restore done.

I know the boat your talking about. I think we had sPoke on the phone once and you had told me about your going to look at it.

There are a pair of pre-90 models in Miami on "the list" that loks nice, but one is a repaint and they're both a bit pricey for their ages, imho.

Glad to see you guys brought this thread back to life, I am still considering a Paramount for my 2nd boat,,,we will have to see. I appreciate reading everyone else's experiences and knowledge, saves me alot of leg work. My Key Hopper is in the shop now getting the bottom paint removed, so one project at a time for me...
