got a lower over the weekend that was locked up.after two hours with two of us working on it it gave in and came apart. will the minor pitting inside the case hurt anything? all the bearing seats a good, oil journals not to bad, shift tube good enough for the cap to seal good and slide in and out freely. going to put all new rcaes in it and bearings but for a trade for parts i had sitting around what the hey. going to use it on my 15" mid i`m building for a 2.5. something to do new for me. thanks Donnie

That's an older CLE unit. Be sure it is a right hand unit if you plan on using it that way. Might have an "L" on the end of the prop shaft, some did if they were left hand units. Bearings and seals are critical. Not to mention the gears. Check it out good or you'll just be throwing money away.

ok thanks, i`ve basicly got to replace everything. didn`t notice a L on it and the gears appeared to be set up as right handed. i`m trading out parts from another lower that he has for some parts that i have . thanks Donnie. oh are the older cle lowers any good? it`s a 4 hloe.

If you take all the paint off it it will look like this. I have read that they perform better than a sm because of the shape. This was mine and I sold it to Tigweld a couple of years ago.
