Need a bigger picture, but I think it may be a Johnson from the 30's or 40s. But I really can't see from the picture just to small.

Not a Johnson, something even weirder.

I like the reverse. Was it in production or a one off attempt by a boat builder? Hell something that strange could be Canadian.

Before you get thinking this guy invented the sterndrive in 1939: 1931 Johnson from Liquidnirvana's compilation

What !!!!..What about Jim Wynne and his volvo!!!!!

Charlie Strang gave the basic drawings to Wynne to make the Volvo stern drive happen, 1959 I think. The Mercruiser had so many innovations and patents that no one else could touch their ideas until 1986. That is when the Cobra came out. It had so many built in problems it was doomed from day one.

I know from a recent article in the Antique Outboarder magazine that the AOMCI puts out it is a Reilly outdrive, made in CA by the guy that built cylinder heads and speed equipmet for things like Model A Fords.
Probably can't post the article without permission from AOMCI.

The refutes the claim that the drive is a Bossen drive and is most likely better info than the seller has
