Now before I start I am not running a Merc Chopper, actuall it is an old quicksilver 28 that has been tweeked to 29 with a little more cup added. But when I bought a Merc 28 pro et (four blade) pro finish, not lab. The pro finish has alot of cup. The difference in bow lift is amazing, and hole shot. I could blow over my voyager easily with no wind. When the Quicksilver can just get the bow up. Actually when running the ET my trim is only a C hair positive with only 4 inches of setback. Everyone says the Chopper has the highest bow lift What gives?? I know the extra blade helps, but it shouldn't be that much, only about 25% right? Just checking.
The 4-blade is quite the bow lifter, from what I understand...

Your experience is not a surprise. The old thru hub Quicksilver props were only a slight upgrade from the stock aluminum props.
You've installed a true high performance prop now, and you've entered another world, the difference is night and day.
When I first bought my Ventura, changing from a stock prop to a performance prop added 10 mph, it was quite an eye opener for me.

Pyro The Pro finish is alot of bow lift, way to much for my boat, but it is really good if there is someone (not to heavy) in the bow I can still get it to fly. It's the prop that spends the most time on my boat. I should of bought the lab 30p though I think that would of been perfect. The four blades have almost no steering torque and great control.
Transomstand: that makes sense and that is pretty much what I thought you just confirmed. And I didn't give enough info the quicksilver is an over the hub.
Thanks for the info
What is the exact difference then between pro finish and lab finish?
Thanks,
Kai

From The Merc Site
Pro Finished models, featuring thick blades (compared to Lab Finish), durable leading edges, high luster, designed for heavy bass and flats boats that require bow lift to see the big numbers at top end. The Pro Finish keeps you in mind for your every day go fast prop.
Lab Finished models, feature thinner blades (compared to the Pro Finish), crisp leading and tight trailing edges, are designed for light weight boats with natural bow lift. The Lab Finish is your prop of choice for flat out running
The Lab Will give you less bow lift and more of your power will drive your boat foreward (Less cup)
