225 HO/ 250 carb question

Have a 94 200 cut to 250 specs. Installed a set of 98 225 H/O carbs on it with 78D jets. It has the idle screws. My question is what it the base for screws??? 6 rounds out 7, ect. They were at 9 rounds out. Thanks.

6 turns open is a good starting point. They may vary from 5 to 8 turns, but 6 works well in most motors. Make sure the recirculation valves, fittings, and hoses are in good shape and that the thermostats are warming the cylinderheads up around 140°

New thermostats, new hoses, engine is fresh build with less than 10 minutes on it. Just needed a starting piont. I know 60*'s are 5-6 out also. Thanks!
