They were talking about this on the XM Radio a week or 2 ago. I got a flu shot once 3 years ago and about a week after getting it I got the flu so I have never go another once since then. That is the one and only time I ever got the flu was when I got a flu shot. LoL

There we go, dont distribute vaccines, just distribute bubbles,...everything would be better with bubbles.

My kids got the nasal spray flu shot for the h1n1 and it made them both very sick. One had a fever of over 105 and had to go to the emergency room. After reading up on this it seems that this vaccine uses a live virus that can make you sick.

So my kids get the flu shot so they won't get sick. The problem is that the side effect of the flu shot is that it makes you sick.

I hope I don't jinx myself, but I have never had a flu shot, and I have never had the flu....

I will not get the H1 shot either.......

I went to the Doc the other day, (perferated ear drum), and told him I wouldn't shake his hand this time, (worried over H1), and he told me that from what he has seen, even the people that do get H1 only have it for two or so days....and it is not as bad as the regular flu......

I hate needles anyway......(could never make it as a junkie), so I don't see me gettin either shot.....(they give them free here at work....I didn't go)

This thread started with a YouTube video documenting an EXTREMELY RARE medical phenomenon.

The sky is definitely falling. There's no much spin and misinformation here, I'm almost afraid to jump in.

There's lots of money to be made, and lots of corporate tax revenue for the government to rake in:

Diagnose that swine flu, sell those vaccines, bill those insurance companies, raise those premiums, pay those millionaire shareholders. The working middle class can afford it.

So which is it? Not buy it because its being forced on us, untested, dangerous, and being sold for monitary reasons (the other thread) or all of us are overreacting (this thread)?

I think you just disagree with people on here, make smart ass comments to newbs, etc, to assert your E-manhood, like a school bully. Seems in reality you don't even know where you stand on many of these issues.

I read that that girl is better now. I don't have a link but as sad as that story is I think it has a happy ending.

My older post was an over-dramatization of the medical "business" in this country, the one that pushes these things on us without long-term research, in the name of corporate profits.

This thread hypes a rare scenario-- a one-in-a-million condition-- as a big reason to avoid the vaccine. The girl in the video developed Dystonia. Some people are actually BORN with dystonia.

Isn't there a possibility that you could catch a "newer" strain of flu during the same week that you received your vaccine, which contains a blend of dead strains several months out of date? Sure. Perhaps the vaccine, which contains the most dangerous dead strains, can "distract" and somewhat reduce your immune system while building it, while allowing you to catch a newer strain at the same time. Perhaps you don't get a flu shot this year, and you still catch the flu? It might be a weak flu, it might be freight-train-collision flu. It's probably going to happen anyway.

Never mind the vast number of people who DIE from the ordinary seasonal flu each year. Do you know anyone who became deathly ill after receiving a flu vaccine?

I don't generally get any flu vaccines. I have a decent immune system against these sort of things. I get a good, strong common cold once per year. I have not had the "puking" flu since I was a small child. No worries. I know a kid with all kinds of respiratory issues and other health problems, and he caught the H1N1 flu. He was in the hospital for a few days, mostly for observation because he is a high-risk case. But, he said it was no different than any other flu, no big deal.

My wife got both vaccines at the same time a few weeks ago, WHILE she was still suffering from a terrible cold. She's a medical assistant, and she's also pregnant with our first. :) We'll see what happens...

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you... My point is, exaggerating a certain POV for the sake of pot-stirring is wearing thin with more than a few people. It also kinda comes across like you are bitching just to bitch. IMO.

I have been known to do that.
I have this habit of filling the empty podium across the stage from a one-sided rant.
Sorry if I stirred it a bit too much.

Yea Pyro, cut the Pelosi:D

BTW, has anyone noticed that since the powers that be seem to have dropped the ball on flu vacine, that the daily "sky is falling, you must panic" items are missing in the fly by media?

just curious

It's not just curious John, it's disheartening at best. If the too liberal media doesn't control the sheep who will. They wouldn't really want to know the truth would they. Like it was said in the movie, "You can't handle the truth". Probably applies to the majority.

There was a guy who calculates the severity of flues by scale on the radio last week. His official title is to hard to remember. Something like a {calculatitionologest}:D Any way he goes all over the world and measures the severity of strains in infections disease and they rate them 1-5, 5 being the most infectious. The H1N1 is just border line a 2. Sarse was a 4!! If you never got sarse the odds are good. He was saying that if 40% of the population gets the H1N1 then that reduces the number again. Same as the flue shot. Though the flue has a higher number and is more infectious than H1N1.

Its so hard to decipher what the risk in getting the shot or not because the media hype and the lyes the Govt has deceived us with so often. Most also realize that big farma gives kick backs to the Govt. So is it for profit or is it reality? I don't thing anyone really knows. My family like most don't get the flue to the extremes like some do. Vomiting ect... Headache for a day and rest all is good. I don't plan on getting this shot like the flue shot we never had also. I just hope I'm making the right decision for my family.

I take the flu shots , I am type 2 diabetic and have a weak immune system so I am instructed by my INTROCRONOLOGIST ( -5 sp ) to shore up by taking them ... I'll just cross my fingers.. BUT I have NEVER felt an ill effect of the shots yet...

Peace,
Jay

I hope you didn't just jinxs yourself Jay.

I have heard that the flu shot does not really prevent flu deaths, it prevents pneumonia deaths. It is generally not influenza that kills people. It is the secondary infections and complications that cause death. I have also seen the chart (will try to look for it) from the CDC site that shows the deaths from flu holding pretty much the same for the past 30 years or so, even though the inocullation campaigns result in more people getting the shots every year.
