hey sorry I haven't posted in a while but having comp problems, (at a friends now)

Anyway I got as good deal on a 1974 19' Caravelle Cimera IV (cuddy) with a 455 olds and a Jacuzzi 12YJ pump (will post a pic when the site gets done with the change over). I am going to rebuild the pump and was told by a friend that someone makes a kit to upgrade the pump so it can take a place diverter/jetavator and get better performance, I also think he said it used alot of berkley parts? Anyone have any info on where to get the kit and is it worth it?

Thanks for any info.

Look in the back of the Mag. there are several ads in there for jet parts.

It's called an Energizer kit and I'm doing one in my YJ here shortly. What it does is replace the guts (bowl, shaft, impeller, bearings, nozzle) from the YJ "volume" flow pump and replaces them with Berkeley-like "pressure" flow pieces. Massive gain in effeciencies, accepts Aggressor and Place diverters as well.

2 companies are making the kit from what I know, American Turbine and Aggressor. I talked with Jack @MPD (THE jet pump wizard on the west coast) and he recommended the American Turbine kit. I found the kit for $1250 from Duane at Hi-Tech Performance parts, 316-794-8616. Once you get the kit installed in your YJ, it will accept the diverters made for the American Turbine jets.

They also sell a completely assembled YJ with the kit already installed. Unbolt your old pump, ship it to them & they ship you one that's rebuilt w/ the energizer kit to bolt back in your boat. Doing it this way is a little more moolah, but it'd definitely simple and gives you a warranty. Look here for a pic of it: http://www.hi-techperformance.com/Parts.HTM

If the kit is a little more than what you were thinking...contact me at tkohse@adelphia.net . My YJ had had some work done to it before I bought the boat and is still in really good shape. Impeller is sharp, bearings tight, no leaks or vibrations. Since I won't be needing these pieces, I would be willing to sell them.

Oh yeah..forgot part of your post:

Is it worth it?

According to the hotboat forums, Jack @ MPD and the 3 or 4 sales guys I talked to, they expect my boat (21' Omega Daycruiser, 455 Olds) would gain min 5mph up top, most likely 8-10mph.
