View Full Version : Photo Question
I need to know how to send a few pictures thru my companies e-mail, Micro Soft.
I can only send two or three W/O getting blocked for exceeding the size limit. Can anyone tell me the steps I need to take to compress or whatever else I need to do??

Have you tried to zip them?

You can also resize them with your photo editing program
You must re-size, zipping does little to reduce the size of JPG images, which are already a type of compressed file.
800x600 is a good size for 6-12 photos.
640x480 is a good size for several dozen...
Thanks, then when the person gets them and clicks on them will they enlarge?

No but they shouldnt be to small if you follow pyros advice
Thanks all, I'll just send two at a time, that works.
you can also upload them to something like photobucket.com and just send him a link to the album.
you can also get a free gmail (www.gmail.com) account which has been pretty accommodating for sending larger files. it is web based so it will circumvent the company's email program.

It might be your network doing it.... get a hold of your network administrator and ask him to bump up the limit....
If your photo editing program lets you choose the "quality" or "compression" amount when you save, this will drastically reduce file size, and also image quality as you add more compression. Quality=70 or compression amount 10-15% is usually a good balance of quality and size.
Most computer monitors display 1024 or 1600 pixels wide.
