Amazing about the yellow color , I'm not a fan of yellow either BUT 99% of EVERY ad for a Z06 the ad car IS YELLOW as well as their Can Am team.. Yellow as well as the orange color is an additional $1000.00 ad on to the price verses the rest of the vette colors..
Thanks,
Jay

Hey Jay the stripes look great! Are they matte finish? It blows away the stock look. It would be cool if you could run two thin stripes on the outside. Like the old weber carb logo.

It definitely adds character! You can out run any one who disagrees anyway!
looks cool the only thing i would have done was leave a yellow divider to give it that double race stripe traditional look

Like the fact that the color is flat black. Don't you wish that the 427 was a big block? I remember the "old" days when "cubes" were king. My son owns a 2000 Viper that I drive frequently and the torque will get you there in a hurry. LOL. Nice ride Jay, by the way.

Yes Stripe is Matte flat black finish. I want to run a red pin stripe along each side of the black with a 1/4" yellow space in between... One day at a time.. I'm now saving up to install the black head light assembly under the clear viser BUT they are $1700.00 a pair + labor to install...
OUCH !!!!!!

The big blocks of yester year are no match for the new generation small blocks, (even the 5.7L LT & LS engines) the 6.0 & 6.2L's are unreal.

It is a bone stock LS7 428 CI and 505 HP, Lee is correct the "OLDER" stuff is no match for the new generation engine. This motor sports an all alum block and heads ( that are CNC ported stock ) it has a very aggressive cam and header style exhaust with TiN valves and rods.. I have read many articles about the LS7 ( ZO6 engines ) and the mods that folks do just don't seem to help stock HP unless a blower and or NOS is added to the stock motor. The ZO6 as well as ZR1 engines are hand built, dyno tested and NOT built at the "normal" GM engine assembely plants..
The car is also very light (3065 LBS) , it has mag. front frame. The power to weight is DANGEROUS to drive on asphalt streets surfaces . In first as well as second gear roll on ( with traction control ON even ) on the throttle when the motor hits 5 K the 13" rear tires break loose and spin uncontrollably.. IMO the addition of a Pro Charger to up HP to the 700 + hp range would be a mute point... I find the HP now stock is simply unusable on most non concrete streets ...
Jay
Jay you need a IMO before you guys say this
" Lee is correct the "OLDER" stuff is no match for the new generation engine."
i see these things run beside my shop on test runs just about everyday

All you need is a hidden hitch and a couple additional colors and you can tow my boat.:D What a Great looking combination that would be.

Now you can't throw down the gauntlet like that and then restrict the responses.
How's about we try my old Fred Flinstone LS7 in my 69 Camaro against the new version.;) I'm thinkin' about 40 on for a quarter to take tire advantage and gear ratio out of the equation. Pinks?????:D

Old school LS7 is 12:1 454, square port open chamber cyl heads, ZL1/Second design L88 camshaft, alum high rise intake, (not the low rise horsepower robber like the early LS6 had) 850 holley. GM called it 465 horsepower at the time, NHRA didn't fall for it and factored it to 600 immediately.;)

Not really 3135#'s. The 67 302 version was a little lighter 2920#'s.

LS7 camaros in pure stock (which anyone thats been around will tell you, run harder than they ever did in years past) run between 11.70s and 12s, 11.63 is the record. Ranger ran a C6 zo6 11.22 bone stock, down to the rock hard stock tires. 4 tenths is a ton of ground, especially when you are talking 12s or faster. From a 40 roll it would be even worse, the transmission ratios in the zo6 are closer, the engine responds better, and the head design coupled with the baby cam gives an excellent wide power curve. The outcome wouldn't be pretty.
Sorry man, I like old school iron as much as anyone, but when it comes to the new gen of cars theres no comparison. Matter of fact, theres a few TrailBlazer SS's up there you better watch picking on, cause there are a couple N.Ga guys knocking on 10s door, and they love the fact that the truck still sounds like a stock 5.3 :reddevil:

Bone stock against bone stock with the OEM tires of the day? There ia a youtube showing a NEW LS7 ZO6 with OEM tires and paper plates that has ran 10:90's with Mr. Ranger driving and with addition of street drag radials they have gone 10:60's ....The LS7 also WILL RUN very close to 200 MPH on top AND gets 27 MPG... ( I've seen mid 180's and witnessed the 27 + MPG )
We are getting off the SUBJECT AGAIN ! What about the stripes ?????? Lets say it doesn't have a motor in it .....

My stripe guy says to use car wash only and stay away with wax and or ANY product that is not for the Matte finishes...
This is a GM striping program for this particular car. WE just added the part under the tag as the GM was left yellow and it looked unfinished...
The car gets driven VERY little it has 4000 miles on it and it stays in one of our covered bays with a cover on it . I also had "issues" of the stripe leaving a "ghost" if it were removed he said as long as it was kept inside and not allowed to bake in the sun for days it would not.. Time will tell.It does stay inside under a cover 99.9% of the time.....

"They" say that they really don't start to turn loose with the BIG HP until at least 5K on it ... Hope I have it that long;). It 's not driven much at all. I have to put a "Tender Trickle Charger" on the battery in the trunk or it will go dead an loose all the stored information ( radio, navigation, seat posistions, drivers 1 and 2 programed information etc )

Hey Jay,
I have a yellow 03 Z that has lots of mods but the outside appearance (other than wheels and tint) is 100% stock.

I was actually thinking of adding some sort of stripes to my car to jazz it up, so I was thrilled to see your photos. I love the hood stripe, it really fits the contours of the hood and the scoop. The matte finish is a nice touch, reminds me of the hood on the 69 Boss 302 I had in high school. For some reason I can't get quite as excited about the stripe in back. Some guys paint the entire back end of the car black and I'm not really a fan of that, so maybe that's my problem, I don't know. Overall, I like it, it's easy to make a black car look mean, that's why you see so many of them. But to see a yellow Z that can be described by the word sinister, that something.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Your ZO6 is BAD ASS , my son loves those models and the RARE yellow color. My Wife had a Red Coupe 2000 , but it was an everyday driver and she hated the ride... What do women know anyway ?????
You might not have read close BUT this stripe is a OEM GM replica...I just added the under the license plate because it looked unfinished...I like the Matte finish ( hope it holds up ) and the head lights are gonna get done sooner or later. ( Like the Can AM cars JAKE are ) They are available my SON is a GM parts manager and can get them at cost BUT I don't know if they are gloss or matte in color..
BTW: If your into corvettes I have a set of chrome ZO6 OEM stock 07 with 3000 miles I want to sell for $1000.00 + freight for the set ( List for $2000.00 a wheel ) of 4 they came off my car and they are OEM ZO6 CHROME...

The clear lense will be the same the black will replace where the yellow under the clear will be.
Yep I machined the license plate bracket mount for front. If you apply the license plate where the OEM factory say its almost on the hood looks like Poo Poo. If you run without a front tag in the state id Texas its $175.00 fine AS ME HOW I KNOW ?????
