I have an '01 Road King, one of the last carb motors, and I just bought a used Road King police tach for it. I got it moounted beautifully on the risor cover. My question is, where is the plug in the wiring harness? This thing is supposed to simply plug into the harness. Did they all come wired for tachs? Thanks in advance for any help on this. REW

I'm not saying it's not possible but I've never seen one that is simply plug & play. I've done a few and in each instance I've had to "locate the pink wire" and "properly route the power wire" etc, etc. It should already have a tach signal wire (pink) taped down on the harness under the dash. It's not a hard job. Hopefully you have a service manual.

Yea, thats the problem, I don't have the manual. I did however find the pink wire, but I dont know which wire from the tach goes to the pink one on the bike. Well for that matter I don't know what any of the wires from the tach goes to. REW

Can't say I'm familiar with a RK police bike tach. I'd venture a guess that it is very similar to a normal tach with a signal input (pink), power (red), and ground (black). There may be a separate input for a back light if it has any.

What colors do you have? ....or does it terminate at a modular plug?

It does terminate at a plug. It has;
black
green/red
green/purple
orange
brown/white
orange/white

Connector wire color codes

OR = ignition
LGN/V = databus
GN/R = pursuit
BN/GY = battery
O/W = accesory
BK = ground

Can't find any reference to a tach signal. Without a wiring diagram it would just be guessing..... not good for electrical connections. Sorry. If I can find a police bike wiring diagram I'll let you know.
