Should have a date stamped on the port side of the motor.
It'll make 240 HP with Fuel Injection. I believe the motor from the factory came all chrome bores. It'd be good if you could check leakdown and compression on it. Also, if you can check the bridges in the ports, make sure they aren't cracked. Don't know what a challenger is...but a 24 should scream on that motor if the hull isn't real heavy.

The 2.4 bridgeport with fuel injection is a complicated motor to get to run right. I had one and a mercury shop manual on it, and still could not get it to 100%. Also, this motor needs to be run ALLOT as the fuel injection is really "flighty". If you know what you are doing they are an amazing motor, I only run my boat 6 or 8 days a month, so it was not for me.

Had several Bridgeports with the horn EFI and a couple with the down draft as well. They run just as good as any of the 2.5 horn motors I have had, just not as strong or as fast. Most of the time I put a digital box on and get rid of the analog box but I got one that still uses the analog box and runs and idles great. They aint no 2.5 245, 260 or 280 but they are good little motors still.

The 2.5 stuff will bolt right on. There is little to no difference in the cans and the clamps. Sometimes you will have change to different exhaust dividers when you go to the 2.5 stuff depending on what you have, but all in all, it will all interchange. The 2.0, 2.4 and 2.5 stuff all use the same can style just some being bass mids and some being the ridgeback off shore style and some the smooth back offshore style with lengths ranging from 12" to 25" with 20" being the standard. But yes you can interchange and swap, just need to use the correct exhaust divider for optimum flow.

challenger should run about 80 with a bracket and a 24 chopper.make sure the fuel pump is up to snuff, these motors grenade very easily if they starve for fuel.

Pyro,
I wish I had half as good of luck as you. I also hope my YT is as fast as your XT.
I lied.
I DID reset the timing (was off badly) and switched to a Brucato box.

I have the same engine. Mine is an 84/85 I think. It runs great on the top.
That's the older variety of the Bridgeport EFI. ;)

Due to the age of that motor I would remove the injectors and have them cleaned and flowed by Brucato, cheap insurance for preventing a bake down.

if i have to fire one of these without knowing the motor,or having the ecm/injector tester with me, I pull the fuel rail and injectors in one piece and give it a crank over to visually confirm all six injectors have a good spray pattern.

About $165 plus shipping. Plus the added benefit of Lindas sexy voice and a couple of beer coozies. :) IMO it is VERY cheap insurance.
