12" Merc Mid Qestions??

If I wanted to run a 12'' mid close to the transom for example in my case 2.5 inches back sitting on a Bob's jacking plate. Would I have trouble with the ram running into the transom??

I would love a 12" mid put don't want to have a to run a mssive set back, or have a hole in the transom!!?? Otherwise I would just go the soft option and run a 15".

2nd question.Heard once that the early style mid was able to be modified to have a gear shaft/ linkage adapted for selectable gear cases???I don't really want an external cable.It will be with a CLE gearbox.

Yes you would have to run more setback in order to clear the ram and bracket.
6" or 7" if I remember right. I can remeasure for you if needed.
