Gathering Parts for Modified 2.5 Carb, already have 7 pedal Reed Cages, but now wondering about 4 pedal Sport Jet Cages. Any benefits for 4 pedal over 7 pedal, Putting motor together for big HP, and top end speed.
Any Info Helps.
Thanks,
D

You'll have to use what ever front half that you have. The front aren't the same.

I have the 7 pedal now, I think I would have to use the 5 pedal sport jet with the 7 pedal front. 4 pedal is for 5 pedal front.

I would use the rubber coated 5 petal sport jets when available with the Tony Doukas Reeds attached over the 7 petal . They have been BULLET PROOF in my race engines turning OVER 11,000 rpms lasting multi seasons as well as recreational engines..

Sounds like a plan.
Jay I will be contacting you soon about doing a little work to a front half.

Why would you put a 5 petal reed on a 7 petal cage? That just does not seem right.

The reed material coverage is the same ( seven verses 5 petal sport jet ) BUT as earlier posts but there are 2 less partitions, thus more air can pass... Also I find the rubber coated cages are allot more friendlier on the reeds ... I have a guy that Drag Races and has gone 2 seasons with the rubber coated sport jets with the .022" Tony Doukas Reeds attached and each year when we come down to freshen I find the seal and longivity is as new...IMO The Sport Jet Rubber Coated 5 petal cages with TDR is a combo I find to be the best for all out racing as well as recreational use...

If ya ain't plann'in on turn'in mo than 10K, tha 4 peddle rubber cages on a 5 peddle front will be a better piece wit carbs!!...Quicker out tha hole, better midrange punch, and will turn 9500 witout a problem...Now, wit efi, go wit tha 7peddle front and 5 peddle cages...JMO

the 4 pedal set up is for a Bridgeport Carb motor with little modification from stock and the 5 pedal sport jet would be for a modified cut up 2.5 carb.
