I have a 1996 175 EFI motor that I put a light-weight 2.5 cowl, pan and plate on. The stock placement of the coils is on a plate spaced off the exhaust plate on the rear of the motor. I was able to move the regulators and space the plate closer to the exhaust plate, but the coils still touch the cowling when installed. Is thatere a different way the coils are supposed to be mounted with this cowling?

Ya have to find a exhaust cover wit tha coils mounted directly to them, like a 260/Promax etc...Tha fish'in mota covers are spaced further to tha back and tha coils are mounted over tha regulators...Tha HP cowl iz spaced forward to give room for tha horn, and need tha coils bolted directlly to tha exhaust cover......I have made a 1/2" adaptor for tha fish'in exhaust plate to bolt coils on, but is still close to cover......One good way to git sum cleerance iz to USE A CHRYSLER COWL!!..:D

i cut up a old 2.4 exhaust cover that holds the coils and then bolt it to the stock 2.5 cover. it looks good you can hardly tell. i could do one for you cheep.

i saw one with the trim coils mounted on the top back of the block. in the spot where the module use to be mounted. don't remember what the module did. make a plate and put it up there. there is also a lot of room in front of block. as rex said, designed for horn.
