Need help. I'm looking at a 1988 20 foot cole custom boat built for an OB in California. Cannot find any info on it. I think it is called a super sport day runner. Need's some interior work but floor and bottom seem's solid. Anybody know anything about these boats and how they were constructed. The bottom does have a pad and it has been blue printed. I need to know if they have a foam core? BarryL:cheers:

I have a couple of there brochures. I always liked there stern drive 22 footer.
But there prices were out of my range.
there's not much info on there contruction, but they were all hand built.
Being that cole built a lot of drag boats you would thing that they carried over the process to there custom production boats.

I believe Cole is no longer in Business. The Magazine's always liked their boats. Gelcoat work is awesome. Buddy here in Ohio had a 20' and the stringers came loose in it after 2 seasons.

If your talking about the same boat I think you are let them in on what kind of power that thing had in it? If it's the boat I am thinking of not many will take that kind of horsepower without some help.

We might be Ed. The stringers came loose in the back. It's been repaired and has a big small block in it still. Looks good though. I know Cole put more powerful motors than that 600hp small block.

I have ridden in a few Cole's and they always had a reputation for quality work. I would not be afraid to buy one that has been maintained. Don't know about the core.
They have been out of business for years, as the owner has passed.

If the boat you are talking about is Steves, I thought the bottom started to delaminate after they Sanded the **** out of it trying to blueprint it. I did not know the stringers had come loose.

Yes Ed, that is the boat I'm refering to. They blue printed it but there was delamination in the rear where the stringers were.
Although, that boat does have another naturally asperated, nitrous injected monster small block in it and is fine...as long as they don't nail it and blow the drive;) I always liked the gelcoate work on that boat.

I hear Steve broke out the Stoker and kicked everybody's tails at Dale Hollow this year. I guess even Zonk's hydro couldn't handle it. That's the first I have heard of him running the boat since Larry was killed. Guess it's still pretty badaSS. What close to 130/135 with a small block I/O pretty impressive.

I didn't hear that. I don't see Stevie much at all. He's married now with a little one. He's also got a nice 25' Datona. He hasn't run that boat much. It wouldn't suprise me if he did though-I've seen that thing run 147 on the bottle. I should call Camel and find out about the Dale Hollow trip.
