i bought a prop from a member here on s&f...he lives in canada...i was given a tracking number and the website to track it...the status of the delivery (for the past 11 days) is "International shipment has arrived in the destination country"...im guessing that this means that its sitting in customs????...i havnt lost faith that it'll be deliverd yet but i am starting to worry a little.
thanks

Do a search on S&F members that work for Customs, he probably has it on his boat.:D
Seriously, I hate to hear of your dilema, you are now entrapped by the government. They'll get to it in their own sweet time.

My most recent sat in customs for a couple days, bout 6. If it was sent through canada post, then usps is now incharge of the prop once it clears customs. i find this is where the trouble starts. My prop took almost 3 weeks! I find it is a lil more expensive with ups but its gets there in less then 1 week and there is no changing hands at the borders, one currier direct from door to door

I have had UPS packages sitting at the Canada/US border for about a week.
Of course, those bastards don't tell you about that when they estimate the delivery time.
THIS is why I recently refused to sell my prop to two different Canadian buyers.
I don't need any of that...

Was it sent in the mail? If so I wouldn't get to excited until it has been 3 weeks. I send alot of stuff to the US by mail, it is usually delivered within a week or so, but these delays aren't uncommon.
If I send stuff FEDEX ground 3-5days at worst.
...and they always want you to falsely mark it "gift" or "gift return"...
grrr...

yeah USPS prob has it now so you can wait on them. you wont be able to track it through them, this is the problem with mail. i recomend curriers like i said that way the package never changes hands. yeah its prob $30 more but it will be there in a week and if something were to happen there is no finger pointing from usps to canada post and vise versa

There is one thing about customs -- its a government nightmare and like EVERYTHING else they get near YOU WAIT. Having said that-- ups has been really good for that stuff and also really expensive. 7-10 days is my expierence.

I've had some things sail through, some take 2 weeks, it really is a bit if a crap shoot. I've had some things though that have showed up at my door and the website has said the "arrived in destination Country" line. I wouldn't worry too much it'll get there.
Pyro, why you hate'in on us Canadians?

I have items delivered from the US on a daily basis through FedEx...usually overnight, there is no issues with customs sitting on items coming to Canada. I recently bought a prop from a S&F member here and got it in three days through FedEx...by truck.
Goin the other way however is a nightmare, even my expense reports which are paper items in an envelope by priority overnight air are delayed weeks at a time. I wonder what the delivery time for an envelope from Afganistan or Iraq is?
I think the paranoia is over the top but then again with all the terrorist training camps operating here in Canada I can fully understand it.

Dave
That was a farce put on us by the Conservative Brain Mulroney and later amended by Jean Chretien so that US corporations can do business in Canada and pay less tax and have full access to the resources sent back to the US for "value adding". The essential premise is the resources are next to worthless unless they have value added to them so they pay next to nothing for taxes on them.
The important thing to remember is that anything with "value added" cannot be imported or exported without substancial taxes on them...unless your a corporation and know the important legal loopholes through your tax attorneys.
Its "Free Trade" for Corporations, not us.
For example a toothpick has value added to it but the log it was made from does not except for the processing costs which falls under an exemption clause.
I quote:
Article 301: General Rules
1. Goods originate in the territory of a Party if they are wholly obtained or
produced in the territory of either Party or both Parties.
2. In addition, goods originate in the territory of a Party if they have been
transformed in the territory of either Party or both Parties so as to be subject to
a change in tariff classification as described in Annex 301.2 or to such other
requirements as the Annex may provide when no change in tariff classification
occurs, and they meet the other conditions set out in that Annex.
3. A good shall not be considered to originate in the territory of a Party
pursuant to paragraph 2 merely by virtue of having undergone:
a) simple packaging or, except as expressly provided by the rules of Annex
301.2, combining operations;
b) mere dilution with water or another substance that does not materially alter
the characteristics of the good; or
c) any process or work in respect of which it is established, or in respect of
which the facts as ascertained clearly justify the presumption, that the sole
object was to circumvent the provisions of this Chapter.
4. Accessories, spare parts, or tools delivered with any piece of equipment,
machinery, apparatus, or vehicle that form part of its standard equipment shall
be deemed to have the same origin as that equipment, machinery, apparatus, or
vehicle; provided, that the quantities and values of such accessories, spare
parts, or tools are customary for the equipment, machinery, apparatus, or
vehicle.
If you feel like being bored silly, heres the agreement.
