I have a 1993 9.9hp ive done mods such as drilling a 2inch hole in the mid for the exhaust, got the paint off the lower unit and i think i need some prop its on a 14ft jonboat its very lite, i realy wanna put fuel injection on it. and spray a lil nos in to her
when i first got the motor and put her on my boat i ran 17mph
now im running like 26mph on a nice day i wanna get atleast 40mph

ive put a 2002 25hp Mercury stock with 18p chopper and i ran like 38mph but the motor was to heavy and it didnt handle right, i really want to build up this 9.9 to get alot of power out of it im gonna try to talk to Tony brucato to see if he get me some fuel injection

Solas make some good props for those motors ,plus a bit of extra cupping maybe ,there should be heaps of carby parts a wrecker yard.

reeds might give you 1mph and see if you can get the heads cut and run high compression. look into porting also

I think that on that motor the reed stops are closed down quite a bit. I know Yamaha built the 15 then just chokes it down to a 9.9, Johnson should be the same. A little compression, light porting, polished exhaust, mabey even balancing and blueprinting may help. For a prop, this is a common engine used in apba hydros, so finding a prop should not be hard, search those sites.

Your best bet to increase the hp by 50% is to go to shop.evinrude.com and click on parts. Look at both the 1993 9.9hp and the 15hp listings and order all the 15hp parts that are different from the 9.9.

I have a 15" fingerported 60hp twin w/ trim and tilt that may be for sale soon. That would make it giddyup.

40mph= 18 Tohatsu ,way lighter than a 25 merc .
