I rebuilt this 175 xr2 sport jet engine last winter after the oil pump gear failed for my neighbor. After it was put in it has never run right. Everything is rebuilt top to bottom with all new rings and one bored cylinder. It runs in the driveway and will not start in the water on the ramp. New stator, plugs, and carbs rebuilt with fresh fuel. This one is beyond me. The other (maybe) bigger problem is that the engine has a rap/ knocking sound while running in the driveway. The boat does vibrate a good amount but it is solidly mounted on the drive so I don't know if this helps describe it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I need this moved on so I can get to my Hydrostream toys.
