Need help from a parts guru.

Hey Guys,

I have a '89 Johnson GT200. OEM power pack is a 583476. A friend has a OEM 586661 from a 95 Johnson 225 he said I could have. The only difference is the newer one has an extra plug. From what I have read, this is for the quickstart feature. I take it my motor doesn't have quickstart? Will this pack work on my motor? Can I simply leave the extra plug unpplugged and the pack still fire?

I need to get back on the water quick and don't have an extra $240 to drop on a new pack right now.

Thanks,
Jim

Your engine also has quick start the difference is in the kill circuit and it uses plug in connectors instead of the terminal strip you have.

Ah...If I cut the plug off and wire the kill wires to my term strip, will it work? I take it the kill wire colors will still be the same coming out of the power pack.

On another note. Tilt and trim isn't going up or down. Motor works and plenty of fluid but will not go up or down. I can open the relief valve and pick the motor up and let it down manually. I lift the motor up and close the relief valve and it stays up, but when I hit the switch, the motor works but will not lift or lower. Any ideas?

Thanks for all your help!
Jim

Thanks for the help.

Installed power pack and just spliced the two kill wires. Runs like a top!

Still have the tilt & trim issue though. Any thoughts?
