I have... 18' Hydrostream YT Tunnel w/ 2.4 Merc., 7 pedal reeds, big bore carbs, low water pick-up, and a 6" jack plate. At 80-85 mph my boat porpoises in the water... so my question is... what is the best solution for that??

Also, if I change from carb. to fuel injection... can I get more power??

Usually porpoising indicates a motor that is too low - should be a little above the pad.

:iagree: raise the motor up above the pad... make sure you still have water pressure:thumbsup: boat will handle better at speed too

with fuel injection you will see drastic improvements with idling, throttle response, and acceleration, but not top end, a 200 is a 200

I have this currious streak in me. Understanding I have not wittnessed/seen the boat run but, IMO if it's going to porpoius is should start before 80/85. On a Hydrostream at those speeds it sounds more like Chine because the boat is already flying.

:iagree:
I was thinking the same thing. Mine porpoiuses at speed below 50/55. Goes away at 60 once it gets up on it's pad.
