16' Baja SS 140 hp Mercruiser help

I just purchased a 1974 16' Baja SS my first boat with no motor and found a Mercruiser 140hp 4 cyl i/o w/ prop & trim and wondered if this setup would work before I start hacking away. Thanks and love the forum.

Depends if the boat was set up for a I/O to begin with.

If your'e saying "hacking away" as to mean the boat is made for and outboard, then you will be disappointed. A 140 I/O is way too much weight for that boat and would not perform very well...... you are better off with a V-4 Johnson/Evinrude, V-4 Yamaha or an inline 6 Mercury on that boat.
