Hi, all - I've been poking around here for awhile trying to find the answer, but I haven't run across anything for this particular motor and thought I should just ask at this point. I have seen info on older motors and thought it might differ from the newer versions.

I have a 2000 model year Johnson 90hp loop charged (60 degree what what I've read) and want to know what it would take to convert it to a 115hp motor. If it's one of those that involves too much work and money, what else can I do to at least increase the performance some.

Thanks for your time!

-Coop

I really did search around - I just didn't find anything on this particular model type and year?

Bump for some info/input, please. :)

115 has bigger carbs and I believe a slightly different tuner assy.

Thanks! What's a tuner assy and what's involved in upgrading it?

Tuner is in the midsection, providing tuned exhaust which converts to horsepower. Different lenghts or shapes provide different HP.

Well, that all sounds fairly easy to do. Anyone else have some input, please? Just want to make sure that is all I need before I start collecting parts. lol

All you have to do is go to www.shop.evinrude.com (http://www.shop.evinrude.com) and click on PARTS. Choose the model numbers and order the parts that are different between the 90 and the 115.

Thanks - it takes some time to compare all those part numbers! lol

Do I really need to replace the tuner too? I've been reading a lot of posts lately about them and most seem to say that any gains are minimal at best...

I know my situation is a little different as I'd be switching stock for stock, not aftermarket. Also, I can't seem to find the tuner in the parts shop listed in the link above....

These engines don't have a tuner, just an exhaust liner. They are the same part number on both the 90 and 115.

I had a quick look and it seems that the 90 and 115 tuner might be the same. Dont quote me.
Good luck.

Heads are different, block is different, carbs are different, other parts may be different.

Tuner is the same

All of this according to above referenced parts fiche, does not take long to compare part numbers.

Darn - thanks for looking. Guess I'll just sell it and buy a 115.

pm racer (Al Stoker) on here, he can tell you exactly what you would need to do to raise the hp and if it's worth it.
