HP rating ?

I 'm thinking i read that merc after 83' rated there motors at the prop and pre 82' at the motor............ help a rookie out!

wow i got a chance to p/u a 84 black max 150hp so at the prop it is only about 130hp:confused: ill start looking above 1985 models

im for 83, and the 82 150 became the newer 135, i thinkl

i would look for a 84 or newer 200, as they are a lot better stock,imo

Black Max was it just a name? anything special? Im probally going to regret pulling this 1985 115 off and adding 115 lbs with the 150 and only 35 hp's Yet down the road i think there is more you can do to the v-6 over the inline. But man this inline is running GREAT :D What to do What to do:confused:

that 150 will do a lot better. you will be happy i am running one one a vegas xt and i usually take 3 or 4 people. i have a problem planing, buit after it tips over it runs the mid 50s or so. light with 2 people it runs like 61mph turning a 24 chopper at 5900. it should do a lot better on your boat. good luck and have fun with it. im also running merc scoops and they let me go coup;e inches higher. i think im at 2 3/4 down and plan to go up a little soon. i also run a 12" slidemaster

Thanks for the info it should run a lil faster will be able to prop her on up! it will be a winter project i still want to tweek on the 115 with some diff props. the 115 has a bobs nose cone i installled so im still lifting the motor with this tunnel . small shaft large shaft what year did they change on the 150's .
