Anybody have a good set of plans/sketch for building an engine stand that will support the entire motor they'd like to share.
Application is for a Merc 3.0L O/B
I've got a project where I'll need to pull my motor and set it aside to work on. I can build one, but just thought I'd ask so I didn't have to reinvent the wheel so to speak............Thanks

I got an engine stand for a car motor and I'm going to use a 3/8" thict alum. plate to mount between the stand and motor. That way I can mount the motor on the stand high enough the LU will clear the floor.

If you use the car motor stands be sure to use the 4 wheel model for the additional stability.

I just picked up the stand and won't be ready for 2-4 weeks before it goes on it. I have to do my transfer case on the 99 Suburban first, damn electronic transfer cases.
I'll ask my friend Huck_this who's a member here to post pics of his.

Open leg 4 wheeler stands work best, and will be high enough for a 25 inch shaft. Beware of the chinese foo stands though. They suck.

Just center the flywheel over the base and you'll be good, I used a 15 degree angle for the uprights.

I wouldn't make this for resale... Too many hours and too much material cost. Only reason why I have that one is because I picked up drops from where I used to work and kinda pieced it together.

Now thats a great price. That would have been sweet up at my shop in De I could have rolled it around. What about wheels that would go over stone. Rick

I use a heavy duty engine stand. It has castors and such built in. I built a plate to hold an outboard which mounts to the stand. I don't have any pics, have a small diesel on the stand now. Kinda like 'baja200merk''s project.
