Hit or miss...mostly miss.

Occasionally, one will come along that runs well...but there's hardly ever one that runs well without being sent to another prop shop for some work.

I had a 28p Hill Yammi drag copy that actually pulled pretty hard, but wouldn't carry the bow when it quit pulling on my XB03.

i have found that most of the time you have to send out any prop to get tweeked for your aplication to get the most out of it. that being true. i would rather pay 200$ and spend a couple more getting it "fixed" . then sending out my 1,000$ et to have the same thing done. i have had fine luck with them, and unless you are racing the boat competivly ther is only going to be maybe a couple mph difference between his and the other guys. like i said cant beat the price, and for everyday prop got to love it. your not running your 2,000 drag prop to pull the kids tubing.

just my half assed, some what, educated opinion,

I have owned one, and it was a good propeller.

The reputation is mixed, but there is a prop shop that turns them into gems. I don't remember the name of the shop, but you will find a link on my links page.

The performance of the Hill props has always disappionted me ,i have owned 3 which never ran within 10mph of their merc counter parts .I think if Hill fixed up some of their performance issues there sales would increase 10 fold .I would rather come here and praise a product not bag it .

ive owned 2 hill props, 1 brand new, slung a blade the 2nd time out at 6500. the other, with very little use, lost a blade and bent my shaft. 2 for 2. that along with the other 50 or more people on here with no success is evidence enough for me. rather spend 2 to 300 more to have a good prop. some seem to have better luck with them but i'll never own another. good luck, hope it lasts for ya!

Ron Hill tuned 2 props for round circuit for free ! And payed the shipping from US to Norway. My son won the race that year.....Thank you Ron Hill ....and we read his advice on winning boat races , read them they are great ! Even bought the lipstic and covered the blades with it to read the flow.

There are several shops in the US that now advertise they wont work on Hill props ?

Do you think it is a quality control issue ?? at the factory .

My fastest prop is a small ear 30 chopper than Ron Hill worked before 1982. It still has some markings from then.

I have heard they are kind of hit and miss.

I tried my first one a few weeks ago, a 28 ET copy. Not sure about other Hill props, but this one seems really nice. It ran good, didn't have any unbalance to it, and the hub is pressed in and fits nice and tight (have heard that some people have problems with the hub fitting loose??). I've tried probably 25+ different props on my Vegas in the last 4-5 years since I've had the boat, and this Hill prop didn't seem off par in performance or finish wise. It actually ran 1mph faster than my DAH worked SRX prop...and that had been the fastest prop I have ran, now it's the Hill. I know it's only 1mph....but it just shows that it's a good prop if it's running faster than a "worked" prop.

Guess I got one of the good ones :D

Here is a thread I did a while back comparing the Hill ET to my SRX and Trophy.

By the way, it's for sale if anyone wants it.....not that it's a bad prop, I just need to get ride of some, and I'm looking to try something else.

Tried a couple, funny how a 26 of merc flavor will turn less rpm and be 8-11 mph faster than a 30 of the self professed gods gift to boating. And after a couple conversations with him about it I'm even more convinced he's a ****ing retard.

back in the day there where not many people that could hold a candle to a hill prop. i know that quality has gone down, but he is a very smart man about props and knows what he is doing.

at least he used too

He's an odd duck for sure, but must know something to have been a factory OMC driver for all those years. I think the problem may lie in his foundry source.

The two I had were SLOW and 1 was so bad it could not be balanced. Loose hubs is common it seems.
