Finally fixed my tinypic issue so I can post pics. Had Mon off at the cabin cutting up a 50' tree the got blown down. Figured dad's BAJA needed the cobwebs cleaned out of it. 80+ deg day no wind, no clouds, an best of all the weekend wallys and their wake boats gone. For a heavy boat with no real pad it amazes me how gets up on top and goes.

Yep..love fall, still get that good mixed feeling of it having been a great summer, but the still many nice days ahead, low sun, colors turning, tourists and kids gone for the summer....simply peaceful.
And we had a super summer this side the Cascades, weather wise

Yep!...we..(Dave is north of me, I'm about 200 miles south the CAN border, Puget Sound).. might get some gray/cool/drizzly winters here, Pacific Northwest, ..(thats the shop time, wood stove cooking, play with the "toys"!)..but the summers are to die for. Rarely over 80, no humid, think this summer it has rained 2-3 times. And everytime out in the boat down here, one way has Mt. Rainier/Cascade range in my face, other way, the Olympic Nat Park, mountain range. I love Florida..but ya got no "bumps!:D
Dave, that first pic tells me you are seems real close to the Canadian Rockies? Just where our ya at, BC?
Again..super pix, super area, super water, and the BAJA?...SWEET!
That first pic is "postcard perfect!":D

Damn..I gotta tell a "story of Fall". Grew up western burbs Chicago. EVERY summer weekend was spent, 50 miles north, parents, the rest us kids, dad and the bro, boat freaks. Think the "Chain of Lakes..Blarneys Island"
From about as early as remember, we had a membership at a place on "Crooked Lake"..off 132 for those who know the area. The "White Feather Indian Club" ..(still there, end of Munn road..still like it was 50 years ago!)
Big house/hotel thing, shared kitchen, moms and kids slept there, then the "bunkhouse", where the guys slept..(yeah, right!)..and underneath was the Bar/Rec room. Damn "Polka" music went on all night. Danced there azz off.
But what I remember most, is the people..(kids meet) that lived there year round, surrounding it. We knew, come after Labor day...the boats would go home, start to lock the place down for winter..(just a caretaker then..old "Joe"..who stayed there..keep the pipes from freezing).
And it would be sad us kids..as we knew we would not see each other for the winter. "Well, its gonna be a long, lonely winter"...but seya in the spring.
Then in the 70's, house on Pistakke, (sp) Fox Chain.. same thing..(but then we would do the "sleds"..winter, but still ..end of summer:mad:
Pickle the boats..AFTER..that last ride down the Fox River to the locks past McHenry, the smoking leave burning fires, shoreline, that low sun...October.."Indian Summer"...
DAMN...forgot the first 5 years of life, but the last 55?...those days are BURNED IN MY BRAIN!
And its the "mems"..people..in life..that make it "worth it"..to "trudge on".."whats next?":cool::D
Still love the "Fall"..always will...

I'd need to check my GEO books, a look up. Out in the shop, pickling a boat now. How close are you to Jasper/Banff? First time Banff was a long time ago, Ski club did a trip there, Blackcomb, from Illinois then. Simply gorgeous!
Friend of mine flies a 8 seat Citation jet, private. Based Denver. He was in our ski club too, how meet. Last year, he was ferrying a dude up there, (owner) building a new ski resort in Revelstoke. Flew him up, then to Seattle for jet maintenance. Had a day lay over here, and came down to see me. He's hard to impress, as seen it all, but he sure was!
As a hard 50 year cross country Harley rider, me, just love the mountains!. Selkirks ID, Rockies, Cascade Range here...but all US. Other riders tell me the Canadian Rockies are super, but we did a good job of doing "Roads", through. US Nat Parks. There, its just damn natural, and the roads aint as good. OK me..bet the locals don't want ya anyway!
Again, that first pic, is super. How the hell anyone can live in a "city", well, get that over, the work thing, retire, move rural! I'm 4 miles from the nearest anything, and thats the road out General Store. I have one stop sign into town, and 15 miles more..I get to see a STOPLIGHT!
Just the way I like it.

Sounds similar to here. Radium is at the junct of highways 95&93. 95 comes from Creston- Cranbrook. 93 comes out 20 miles west of Banff on the Trans Can Highway, goes though Kootenay Nat Park.

You know well as I..BC is pretty well..paradise!
Been here PNW 15 years now, done Victoria, Ferrys, San Juans, inside passage to AK, the THOUSANDS of inlets, everywhere..(friend has 36 foot Flybridge...loves to explore) Thing is, here, there, are SOOOOOOO many places to explore..roads, and on a boat. Like said, 15 years here, and retired since, and bet I aint seen but 10%.:D..but working on it!
Love it when ya hear .."all it does is rain here"..(yep, STAY FAR AWAY!)
HA! The 4 seasons hit like a "light switch" here, the solstice seasons.
Average 40's here, winter, maybe a freeze over night, (I'm on the Puget Sound water..that effect..water is high 40's, winter)..average 3-6 inches snow. Spring ya might wanna scream.."enough"..the gray cool drizzle!
Then, WHAM...SUMMER! This year was May early, and think we had '"ALL SUMMER"..3 days with rainy day. And it was mostly ignored. Still dry as a bone here. AZ/FLA is OK, but summer will have ya on yer knees, either heat, or humid..(we have damn near zero humid here..I don't sweat!..even the occasional 100 degree days..mostly sunny, and 80's)
Don't let the word out, the weather, billions of water to explore, and if that first pic don't tell all....well, bet the winter there, roaring fire the cabin fire place, a day spent "sledding", worn out, stuffed with good food, good friends, and watch the low sun go down, probably you the "kirks"
It just don't get no damn better!:D:D..(remember the Northwoods, me, Wisconsin..samo thing...ya crash with a super grin, of "Nature", and the "playground"..it provides! Wake up, REPEAT!
