im new to the outboard scene
have a cig 21 outboard
had no steering so i added fliud and preasure and it started leeking
removed helm and redid o rings
helm is hynautic h50 3 line system pressurized
put all back in bleed system and know steering is real hard and is making rachiting noise or grinding noise can anyone help or know of a good place to take it in northern il or southern wi

When you took it apart, was there dirt & rust in the system? You may need to replace helm. Positive displacement hydraulics must be in new condition to operate peoperly.

very clean only 70 hrs on system

Only place I know of that services those helms is Flow Tech in Jax FL. I think I gave you this info on my helm-for-sale page. Look there anyway. They can repair it most likely.

The tech at Teleflex told me if you can move the motor back and forth and the steering wheel doesn't turn you have something wrong with the hydraulic cylinder. I replaced it and he was right. He said if you can move the motor back and forth and the steering wheel moves also, then it's the helm.
