well I looked back a few pages and did not see a thread about the .miami to new york runs.
i found an old picture of my father in law, and the boat looked like a 20 alum with a 100 merc.
the time was amazing...could anybody do this now in the modern age???
I guess a lot of the run was in the intercoastal..as I have been told there was a ground crew with a truck, and a refueling boat, and the truck would try to get ahead of the marathon boat, launch and meet up to refuel..then at sundown they would meet at a marina, and send a telegram to prove where they were.
the telegrams had a time and a date to verify the run.
I do have the 1 picture if anyone wants to see the boat.

The boat was a 16 Alim and was driven by the father and son team of Brooke and Ronny Russel. I went to high school with Ronny and it was he and his Dad who introduced me to boat racing. I crewed for Brooke at several races and even drove and rode as mechanic in that boat in the 9 hour race. I lost touch with Ronny while he was in the Navy and always wondered what happenend to him. Please post any picture you have of the "Miami to New York" boat.
