Start of Winter get-to gether....

I takled to Tom Foley and a couple more, that haven't been posting here much any more, about a start of winter cold weather Suwannee trip. We came up with a date of Dec. 4th-6th as a good weekend. Staying at the Cheifland Holliday inn and cooking at Tom and Gina's Friday and Saturday night. I'll post more info. PH##'s Food Info. etc. a little later. OH by the way the "missing members"...SHANNA AND MARIE!! They have had a kind of rough summer, and need a Suwannee trip! Should be FUN!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cheers::cheers:

Just a word for those who are planning on trying to make this. If you want to bring a covered dish...feel free to do so. I'm going to bring some "gassed up" burgers for Friday night and Beef tenderloins for Saturday night, so when we get a little closer, I'll try and get a head count. As far as Russ's event...it's on Sunday the 6th I think, so if somebody wanted to make a toy donation, it shouldn't be much of a problem. Plus, this won't be a big deal like the River Ranch get to gethers. I don't think it will take away from his event.

Up-Date.....We MITE have a problem with the Holiday Inn!!! Shanna talked to someone today trying to get us a groupe rate, and the lady said the last time a "boating groupe" was there, they had several complaints, and had to refund money to other, non boating guests. I'm going to call back in the morning...if not this afternoon...and see if I can work this out. If not, there are a couple more places to stay in the area, and I'll post ph##'s in the morning. I think thats awful that the whole association gets a bad name because whoever it was doesnt know how to act. so like Mike said if you want to stay there call them and tell them you are with Scream and fly to get the group discount i believe its $77 a night. I would like to ask that people consider other hotels beside the Holiday Inn Express in Chiefland, for accomadations, the owner there is very dishonest, and will price gouge you, I contacted Holiday Inn Corporate about a problem I had with him & he had some very bad & untrue things to say about the performance boaters that have been staying there in the past. Holiday Inn gave him 48 hours to contact me about the problem we had and he never contacted me, instead he contacted several of my fellow boaters.

I have talked with the people at Best Western down the street from Holiday Inn Express and they have stated that they will be glad to have the performance boaters and will give a group rate if we give them a chance.
I personally will never stay at Holiday Inn Express again, the owner told Holiday Inn Corporate that the performance boaters damaged and trashed his hotel every time they stayed there. Appearantly he doesn't need the business.

Jimmy just because I haven't made a Suwannee trip With You doesn't meen I haven't been to the Suwannee!:thumbsup: I've been going to that river for longer than I care to discuss. Like I said, in all the times I've stayed at the holiday inn, I've NEVER had a problem. Now you mite have, I can't say one way or the other but, The Two Folks I put this thing together for WANT TO STAY THERE! So, if you or someone else wants to come but stay elsewhere...please feel free to do so. The parking is better at the Holiday Inn, The SECURITY in better at the Holiday Inn, and it's as close to where were going as any hotel large enough to accomidate our groupe. thats what they did 2 us the last time we stayed there for mem. day wasn't even a bunch of us out there but we did have music playing in the boat.. btw mike im not saying DON'T STAY THERE as u stated it does have a good size parking lot and it is close also rooms are cleaner then best western... you don't have 2 worry bout me staying there again after paying $118 and change for 1 night stay (after i was told that it would be $77+tax) when i only live 45mins away....

It Just Seems To Me , that as often as we use these same hotels ,that they would have enough sense to book Non Boaters on the other side of the facility ,when there is a group coming in to town for a weekend . I know there can't be that much busness in these smaller towns ,that they can afford to turn any of it away . As for Property Damage , what are they saying about that . I know when I've been there ,there are trailers parked in the grass ,and there may be some bottles and cans that get missed ,but isn't that what they've got there employes there to do . If the damage was done in a room , then bill the ocupants of that room , don't take it out on the entier group . I have heard Jimmy's complant , and wouldn't blame him a bit for not ever using there facilitys again . But that's why we all have minds of our own ,so we can make our own disicions .

Didn't mean to get a pissing match started, stay where you want, all I have to say is this when Holiday Inn Corp. did their investigation they defended my side of the complaint, in fact I used pionts for one night there and they refunded my points to my account so I would think they found that the complaint was a valid complaint. They instructed Mr. Patel to contact me within 48 hours about the problem, he wasn't man enough to call or e-mail me as they instructed. But he was able to talk to Stoneman, and Laser ED and others to try to redeem himself. As far as the issue I had with him I guess that's my problem. If you guys want to do business with him thats up to you, just remember I WARNED YOU! He claimed the problem was caused by an employee and told Holiday Inn Corp. he fired that employee, he is a liar, I dealt with him personally, he checked me out, and then told Corp. he was unaware I was even a guest there at that time. as far an the damage claims he says we destroyed his sprinkler system, and ice machines, said we trashed the rooms, and property. As a former maint. engineer for Comfort Inn I can assure you I know what to do as far as taking care of someones property. Maybe he will be more cooperative since I filed the complaint?????

As far as I am concerned, the issue is closed about the Holiday Inn Express, I won't stay there again, or recommend it to anyone, the idea Foley has is the best one, I have always felt welcome at Foleys and never had a complaint from Gina & Tom. I look foward to to the Suwannee trips, and won't let a price gouging, lieing, idiot keep me from coming back. Catch you on the water! :cheers: Jimmy

This trip is the first trip that my Mom and i have been able to make it to in a year. we have had some major family health issues and this is literally the first time being able to go anywhere fun. we are so excited to see our boating family. its funny that no matter how much time goes by without seeing or talking to some of you it still seems like yesterday. and thats what it is all about is the good time and friendly faces. there is something about being on the water listening to the motors and laughing so hard your stomach hurts. so with that being said enough about hotels or what issues you had or have. a few complaints out of hundreds of people is pretty good odds to me. no more bitching no drama this is going to a great time had by all and getting to see some of the best people ive ever met.

yeah thats our old 32 cleaver... did good on the action bc it aint have much bow lift and it was good after 95 cause the boat starts kiting after that but we never used it got the 34 and i like it alot

Casey there is a little closer ramp at Gronto Springs...about 2-miles from Rock Bluff. You should be able to make from there pretty easy. I'm sure there will be several boats putting in there.

It isn't that close...It's two miles to the bridge..Rock Bluff...and then another 10 miles to the split. Now, there is another ramp a little further up river thats about 6-miles from Rock Bluff. If you carry an extra 6-gal. you should be able to make the run from Fanning Springs tough. Last year I used a little more than 16-gal. and we ran pretty hard the whole way.

There are many localized toys for Tots events that will be going on around the state . The Marine Corps League in New Port Richey most likely will be doing it again . Russ just feels like he needs to come on this post and advertise I guess .:confused: Unfortunately we will not be collecting toys at the house at this weekend deal . The massive cleanup effort on Sunday will be enough after the party Saturday .
Not being a grinch or anything , just will have a full plate in the aftermath !!

there is a walmart next to the hotel they usually have a box at the doors to donate toys if anybody would like to. with that being said this is the start of winter get together thread and im counting down the days till this suwannee trip. i cant wait to see everyone and get Grant to fetch us some beers. :cheers:
