View Full Version : Mercury Tech 2.4 fornt half on a 2.5 will it work

i have a buddy that had a bridgeport 2.4 245 and it came apart and cant be fixed hes wondering if all his stuff off of it will work on a 200 2.5 that had carbs on it he wants to chanege the front half and stuff to make it efi :) thanks

X2 on the no - there's a bolt hole mismatch and the center main bearings are different sizes

Its a 2.5 200. So its a xr6. Right.

No.... XR6 is a 150HP on the high side of the the +/- 10% hp rating.

Front halfs won't match. The spacing of the bolt holes at the mains is different. Pistons won't match either. You can get away with using the rods and possibly the crank depending on what the bearing shoulder looks like. And you'll need the 2.5 center main bearings. Stuff like electronics.. stator, flywheel etc.. should work. Even the carbs although the spacing of the reed plates is different.
