Hey. I took the Mini Hawk out with my mom this evening. Water was rougher because of yachts going around. As I accelerated, it went on plane like its supposed to, so i kept on throttling up- and the bow still stayed up. I thought it was a weight issue, but once i reached top speed, (which was very very fast) the bow lowered, and the boat shot forward and shot across the water and it started to bounce like crazy, so i slowed down again to the bow being way up high again. Seems like I need some tabs or something.

was it a porposing issue?

Tabs wont help you they will be too large and create too much drag IMO

You are goin to have to get some input from guys that have drivin these boats. Being it is very small it will be greatly affected by little chop. try to get out when its nice n calm or a nice lil 6" chop that youcan run in to better see if the bouncing was do to boat waves or something in the set up

Put a bigger motor on it! It will flatten right out after 60 mph!

Did you see the video? I heard "fins" that you attach above the prop help in keeping it level when accelerating.

That video never showed it get up on plane . Try less of a trim angle , and get some video of it once it;s up and running .

Good Luck !

My little 13' Paradise (the boat like in Wildman's video but with a fraction of the power) will porpoise like crazy without the fins on the cav plate. It runs fine with them, and they are just some cheap plastic ones you get at Walmart.
The boat came with them on, and I took them off once to see if the speed would increase, but instead, on plane, the boat would do nothing but bounce, even trimmed all the way down..

I know have a 60hp on it. It gets on plane good, but hops up to 29mph. At 30 it flattens out. I'm gonna put the fins on the cav plate.

an inexpensive test would be to consider weight distribution, usually a quick fix is to move some weight foreward. look at your setup, long deck, seating-engine-fuel are all towards the back, cool looking but not dispursed evenly for the power and sitback in relation to the prop, I learned this on knee boards, if it hops, move up an inch or so, same principal on your rig. try moving the fuel tank up under the bow, or get some weights and lay them on some towels or lifejackets and get some weight foreward, betcha a nickel you'll find it helps or stops it :iagree::cool: fun out

I'm with you. The boat I am currently setting up (13ft semi flat bottom) porpoises like crazy if the weight is forward. I could slide back on the seat and cancel it out immediately.
Small boats are very sensitive to fore and aft weight distribution, it's just the nature of the beast.

Thanks for all your input :) It is greatly appreciated. Unfortunatly, before i got to see all of this, i had a problem with the boat engine.
