Bought this from the original owner said its been 30 years since he used it. I need some ignition parts and have to figure how to get to them. Best I can tell made somewhere around 1955 model 40 minus=1hp. The add said it will run 2 people in a dingy and pull 6 more with 2 people and idle lo w enough to be able to get in and out at dock running.:DRick

This model is for a dingy. It is really cool little engine and I just want to restore and make it run. Rick

British Seagul. Used to run one on a friends dinghy as a kid.
Low RPM, giant props w/no pitch = tug boat motors
Rick, everything is probably under the flywheel.
Anyone remember some time back there was a guy on here from a foreign country where they raced them??? Had a pipe on his and was dead serious about it :D Was trying to figure out compression, porting and maybe nitro for the thing

We used to see them on sail boats and dinghys. I was todl they were build as "throw away" motors for the British government. They would use them to run into the beach and leave, no concern for finding them to reuse. Just what I heard.

Newer ones look almost as primitive as the older ones ... really hard to tell the age

I have one of those engines sitting in my shed for about 5 years. It ran when I put it away.

they are very reliable, you could throw them over as an anchor and then pull it up, empty float bowl on carb and your ready to go!

some of the boats do 15/16 mph with 2 adults and a cooler..
