I just did this a few weeks ago for somebody and do think I can rember what they were, NO! I think they were 7' long by 8" wide. My Viper and my Vector have the same pad dimensions. I do remember that! I will check them when I go home and if it is different from what I told you I will repost them. :)

Rum…
If you’re doing what I think you’re doing you’ll also want to compare boat length, weight and total setback. I would also try and narrow the field by evaluating boats that are similar in size and weight compared to your own boat. If your boat weighs 2,200 lbs. fully loaded, don’t bother comparing it to an Allison with its narrow 10” wide pad.
I think it’s very difficult to give you a definitive answer but this may be a good place to start: Boats weighing 1200 to 1500 can use 10-12” wide pads, 1500-2200 I would go for 12-14” wide pads. This does not take into account the HP on the back of the boat, 150-200 hp should go for the wider pads, 225+can probably get by with the narrower pads.
The logic for the use of larger pads is two fold: First we don’t have the luxury of testing, if the pad you glassed in is too small you’re screwed. Second, you will loose less top end speed if you guess too big (within reason) as opposed to small. Of course the trade-off of wide pads is rough water handling but that is usually a secondary consideration.
Good luck...

I just measured the pad on my Vector since it is real easy to do sitting upside down in my garage. It is close to what I said it was. It's 7' 9" long and 8" wide. Hope this helps you decide what you are tring to do. :)

I just went out and measured the pad on my Bullet and it is 14" wide and goes up past the console in terms of length. My pad also has a slight concave shape to it.

Here is a picture of the pad on my Vector. It might give you some ideas on how to make yours.

you need to check with Sam baker, send him a message and he can tell you about all you want to know about pads, I am going to add one to my hull and he told me to a "T" what to do sizewise and so on.

don't know what kind of boat you are padding but a 10" pad is about the best performing width and some say a 6' length is a minimum but I put one on a Rabco Streaker that was 40" long. The last 6" had 3/8s" hook to lift the boat for clean water and less drag. This was on a round bottom and increased the performance and handling greatly. If you have any questions feel free to call.Good luck,Lonnie 904-813-8201 Later:cool:
