Is anybody here very well versed with regard to Minnesota laws regarding speed limits on the lakes?

I am aware of environmental lakes, channels, Lake Minnetonka, St. Croix, etc. but what about general Lakes? Where is easy place to find the statutes regulating such?

I am aware of noise regulations, careless operation, etc. but not aware of any "hard or written" maximum speed regulations.

Help would be appreciated. Thanks

The speed limit on all bodys of water is 50MPH. Even in the winter on a snomobile on the lakes. The thing my Sheriff buddies have told me is that they just are not enforced very strong in alot of places. In fact if I do need my boat clocked by radar. They said they would do it for me.;)

On my lake there is no speed limit. I have talked to the DNR they told me "no speed limit" there are a few lake's and river's in MN that have it like Lake Minnetonka, St. Croix, but there are allot more that don’t. Also Kent M. who is a member of this board and Vice President of our lakeshore association told me no limit. For sled's in the winter yes. Hope this helps.

My understanding was general lakes have no speed limit. Will have to research out. Was hoping for specific statute numbers to save me time. Thanks Bruce V.
