What carb/intake set-up is successful when changing from horn to carb to run the carbureted class? This would be for a 260 EFI. I am ignorant to the rules for the class and the set-up I need does not need to be legal for any class racing as it will have nitrous behind it. Need something that idles and starts well after that it doesn't really matter. I have been using the set-up off of a 2.4 BP with 7-petal reeds but was thinking a 5 petal set-up might be sharper at idle. All replies appreciated.

i run the 245 pumper carbs with sport jet cages on a 260 ported steel bore mota and they run great. the four petal cages on the smaller front also work good, they will pull harder down low.

:iagree: The 245 HP carbs would be my carb of choice and after all they were the OEM carbs that went on a 245 High Performance motor ( 260 with carbs ) Your 14 petal reed set will also work fine.. Some plug the injector holes some convert to carbed front half. IMO I'd use the "line bored" mate and plug the injector holes... Less fitting and mating hasels ...You can run a 1" intake spacer plate also to give it some more air volicity and speed..
Good luck,
Jay

If your not worried about bein legal for any class and gonna spray it. Why go to carbs? Them things are aggravating.

Carefull young'un!!!!:eek::D
WH-20's will work az good, and sumtimes better than them single bowl carbs...I have swapp'd tha single bowl 245 carbs for tha wh-20s and seen a gain in performance, BUT, have dun tha same swap, and seen no improvement cept for idle charatistikz....
Carbs are only az good az tha tuner!!!....Dual bowl carbs are az simple az it git's, but also takes sum time, and a few cuss words tyo git them to sing....In my book, if ya want to tune them single bowl Pieces ov crap, Tommy Dunn would be tha man to talk to!!!...JMO

i think that the wmh style carbs are prob the best bet. the wh carbs make good drag carbs but they run HOT in the mid range, and harder to tune. didnt say you cant just harder.

What did you use to plug the injector holes? I have plgged the bleeder fittings from the cylinders on 2.4's and 2.5's without being able to detect any difference. Are you running the bleeders from each cylinder?

Bored out OMC carbs worked for us back in the old days. They were hell to jet but when we got them right they would give us a check.:thumbsup:
