This listing popped up for sale locally so I went to look at it. The boat is about 15' and it has a 115 Merc on it. The boat is pretty rough but I really like the lines of the boat. Anyone know anything about these? The price is really steep for a boat that needs a transom, floor, stingers... etc. I'm sure it has no chance of selling but I was just going to keep in touch with the owner to see if I could pick it up reasonable.

I should have read first. I just saw this thread: http://forums.screamandfly.com/forums/showthread.php?t=192658

I've never seen the boats before. I really like them.

Wow!! All this Avenger stuff popping up. I bought one off craigslist last week. 1973, 16' with a Merc 850 Thunderbolt. Boat, motor and trailer. I just started cutting the deck out and evaluated the stringers and transom. Stringers are going to be replaced. I have not peeled anything off the transom yet to understand what I have there. I wish it was done already.

Well I bought it for $400 minus the motor. I really like the lines of it.

Had one and loved it. Put a V4 OMC on it and you'll have a 60mph fun boat. Don't pay any attention to charger kid, he must of had a bad experience with one, that can happen with any boat. I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I've got a 140 Merc inline for it. Should look right at home on there.

Well it was cheap so I decided to get it. She needs some structural work but I can handle that. I really like the lines on the side. It looks like a pretty fast but rough riding hull. It has a very shallow V.

Here she is. I have to see if I can shine her up a bit.

Looks like it already had an inline Merc on it. Transom holes are for inline Merc and tach plug is Merc.

A true diamond in the rough! Can't wait to see it when you are done. The horn has GOTTA go!!!

Good eye. There was a '78 115 on it that had manual tilt. The seller thought that the motor was worth a fortune so I bought it without the motor for $300. I pulled the motor off for them and let them sell that separate.

I have a 140 inline with trim to put on it. Or a 200 2.4 V6....

Sweet. I agree the horn has gotta go.

Whats first on the punch list?

First is separate the hull. Remove floor, transom, and check stringers.

I'm almost done with the work on my Vector so this will be the next project.

Gregpro- I love my '85. It is an 18ft...and yes , it is a fast ski boat. Mine handles really well...turns like on rails. Not for rough water. They are a west coast boat. Lot of them out here, but I don't think as many back east.Yours is older than this brochure, but check it out. http://www.powercatboat.com/Avenger/CeeBee04.html
