View Full Version : OMC Tech OMC Lower
Okay,
I have a 1982 200hp Evinrude. The skeg is missing and I'm casually looking to replace the skeg or the lower. Today on Craigslist, there is a lower from an '85 OMC sterndrive. (http://tulsa.craigslist.org/boa/1296555260.html) Would these be compatible? They look the same - any ideas?

I believe the lowers are the same. The 4cyl. stern drives used the V-4 gearcase and the V-8 stern drives used the V-6 outboard case. This was the last of the older style OMC upper drives before the Cobra came out.
Find a OMC dealer that can look up and compare the part numbers on just the housings. The stern drive used a short driveshaft and used a different shift actuator to pull the shifter arm in the lower up and down.
