hello i have some fixed position trim tabs on my boat and was wondering where they should be set for best all around performance? right now there set flat to the bottom and it seems there keeping my hull from trimming up and getting out of the water. this makes perfect sense as the trim tabs are not going to like running at anything but parrallel to the water surface. so what type of angle up from parrallel to hull bottom should i be running them? I have to shorten the struts now.

The last rig I had them on had an issue of carrying the bow too high even when trimmed in. I set the tips of the tabs to be 1/8 inch below the bottom and the problem was solved. In general, any non-tunnel hull will run fastest if the boat is at max speed with the motor trimmed out about 3-4 degrees from parallel to the bottom. You'd then try and use the tabs to juggle the hull position to the point where you can achieve this max speed at optimum angle. If you're already running this way, then you may not even need the tabs at all. This is what you do if you're looking for best top end. If you have another problem that you need to solve, then the answer will be different. Its also possible that your rig may run best with the tabs angled up from parallel to the bottom.

I was hoping the tabs would help the hole shot and get the boat on plane quicker. I ran it yesterday for the first time since adding the tabs but kept fouling 1 plug and now i see i need plug wires. new plugs and wires and ill try it again and see how it rides.
