Yes Kevlar is a Yellowish kinda color.. As for Resins I don't know for sure but I belive that is true.. You need to find out what kind of resin was used to build the boat in the first place.

Just so you know, Kevlar cost about 10 times what fiberglass costs. $3 a yard VS $30. Even if you could use polyester it would be kind of a waste.

You do not have to use epoxy resin. You should use what the boat was built with.

Those guys in the 80's used polyester resin and yes STV and Laser did use a layer of kevlar. You can use a polyester, vinyl ester or epoxy resin to repair. Epoxy is the strongest and will bond to any of the others. But the others won't bond to epoxy.

Just a tid bit. The name "kevlar" is just DuPonts' name for aramid fiber. Aramid fibers are the same stuff they use in bullet resistant vests. :D

I thought they were bullet proof vests. Until something too big comes your way.

yeah techno, they are bullet resistant. they are mostly rated for small arms fire. so they wont stop something too big( ie .50 cal )or too slippery. (ie teflon coated). and depending on where they hit the vest and what range , the vest does have a chance of failure.
