I was changing heads on my motor the other day and when I took the voltage regulator off to get to the bolts to loosen the plate, it was slightly arcing when I touched the VR to the plate they mount to. Tonight I was playing with wiring up the troller and noticed I had a draw on the battery, definitely the big motor drawing. Could a bad VR cause this? Kinda confused  Thanks for any help, I've got only a few days to get this ready before my sister and brother-in-law get out here from Ohio. Need to show them western washington by water!

All the older EFI's the ECU's seem to always have a slight draw. My Bridgeport will kill the batt in 7 days, dads 96 Pro Max will in 2weeks. If it's not normal and there is a fix I'm intrested. My fix was to inst batt switch's

i don't know if the pro max ecu's are different but jay smith told me that i need a battery cutoff switch on my 260 cause the ecu will slowly pull the battery down. go get you a battery switch and wire it to kill everything including the trim.

Hey Brian... My 1998 Promax 225 does not have a draw...? (I do but it dont :p) Anyhow the last time I had an issue like that it was the voltage reg on its way out... Also I just tried my ECU by plugging and unplugging then checking at the battery and no spark of any kind plus I tried a test light between the battery and cable and no light... However I did try the voltage regs and they cause the test light to light up for a very short time then go out which is most likely capacitors charging...? Hope this helps...

BTW sold my old Skeeter and bought a 1998 20XDC Bullet w/225 promax/sportmaster setup...

It just occurred to me last night that the tach is also acting up...I think I'll just put a different regulator on and see what happens...thanks!
