It looks like a little Express cat or an Activator (was a splash of the Express). They were built in Michigan over by lake St.clare.

I saw that boat last time it was for sale on cl, it has an old 2.4 on it and the hull is all cracked inside. Someone bought it on ebay for like 6500 about 5 months ago. He probably wasnt very happy when he got it cause it was completely misrepresented also has no hull id numbers

mine has a 1985 150 merc with a 26p and it will do 72 i havent played with the jack plate yet im waiting on a water pressure guage and the low water pickup first i know i can get more out of it.

I cant see that thing float at a dock very long with a 300 on it.

Active Thunder produced a few very small cats like that but their transom was flat without the setback. They were called Active Thunder Cubs....they never went into full production because of the Coast Guard restrictions placed on boats under 21' in length. They may still have the molds....

It's an Ocean Express, called nitro 15 or something

It is a Sampson Cat built in South Florida in the late 80's. These boats hunt very bad as to the terrible bow steer. Project was scrubbed due to dangerious handling.

mine only does that if your trim it way down or at very slow speeds? what else do you know about these boats?

thanks to mcracing for clarifying this.im surprised to see more than one around.the agitator with the 300?has been for sale and through at least 3 owners that ive seen.i beleive it was initially used atop a sign post at a marina as a prop.after the marina went out of business and some years had passed someone got it off the pole, rigged it and its been for sale since.id heard of one that someone was playing with trying to get rid of the handling issue but never actually saw it.

Would love to get ahold of him? i was surprised to find another on as well, fencedawg sent me a message saying he has the same boat as well and would like to see better pics and ask some questions about my setup seems like these were made in Florida surprised mine got all the way up here in northern ontario.

I don't think its the same one.

The same guys in cape coral have owned that boat for the last 12 years, maybe longer. I know them personally. The graphics have been on it for at least 10. I don't think I have ever seen it run, but I've heard alot of talk about how bad ass it is. :rolleyes:

im guessing it didnt acually have a 300 on it right? i think there boats handel not bad onther then when your trim them down way to much.

it could be the same one.it wouldve been rigged in the mid nineties.like 1995-96.one thing is for sure,without alot of proof that boat has inspired many conversations.i have heard of the legendary performance as well.

both of those are vary different than my cat.... The transom is completly different and also myne is only a 2 seater.... I also don't see as much of a reverse chine??

I looked at this boat in Fort Myers when it was on Ebay last year. It needed everything! It looked like it was built with used junk parts someone had laying around. Nothing was done right. It looks like the new owner put a little work into it. I remember the seats being broke and wires seen hanging everywhere. 300HP??? Negitive!..

found out the make of my boat it is a 15.5 ocean express ive been emailing them and i got the official word that they did make it they sent me some pics of the orriginal boat and the specs sheet and mine meets all the specs:thumbsup: im glad it isnt one of the knockoffs that were junk.

I have the same boat 15-5 nitro made by ocean express. My progress has been slow over the years as I started out to race it. Changed my mind. Now I just want a fast pleasure boat. got a 2.5 xri with a 12' 'champ and a speed master. Active thunder built a few 14 foot cats that were a foot wider than the cougar cubs.may have been thunder built by Otringer.
