Hey Jay!
First of all thanks for your time on the phone the other and you got back to me asap even though I don't have a racing application motor. Your very professional!!!!!! Remember me I'm running the twin engine 225 EFI 3.0L turd motors. lol
(engine stalls after hot soak issue-you said to remove primer bulbs)
I forgot to mention, what kind of maintanence do I need to do for my injectors? These 1999 EFI 225 Mercs just barely have ove 100 hours on them. Do you like the mercury products like quick clean?
On the oil side of things, should i run the mercury prem. plus synthetic blend or amsoil hp injector oil? Or other brand that you can recommend.
When I got the 30 ft Trophy I switched over to the Amsoil HP injector oil.
Your thought please...

send em to brucato and get em serviced right it will be money well spent. The merc oil is pretty good im running it right now, amsoil is a little higher ashing and might gum up ur injectors more if they are a lil gummed already.
Do a quick search for oils here there is enough pages to fill a library in here with regards to 2 stroke oil. So as a new member dont start an oil thread unless you can find the info you need.
Jay will chime in soon im sure, He is by far the most stand up guy ive had a chance to talk to, and there are others here also that will take time outta their day to help a complete stranger from another country or across the street.
Oh yeah Welcome to the board if ur not already addicted then dont worry you will be in a couple days:cheers::cheers::iagree:

Glad to help Bugsy,
I'd run the Mercury or the Pennzoil BLENDS in your steel sleeved 3 liter motors . I like the Sea Foam fuel treatment products available at Wally World . I'd give the motors the first dose of Sea Foam at full strength and from then on I'd give then a slight dose say 1 OZ in 5 gallons of fuel.
Good luck,
Jay

Hey Charger200!
Thanks for the come back on the oils. Looks like I will stop using the amsoil but I had read a little internet info that blends might be better. Wasn't sure on the ash content and what that means. Can you elaborate?
Jay, thanks so much again!!!! So I don't have to buy the expensive mercury fuel cleaner......two amateur outboard techs have told me put the green label Stabil in the fuel for ethanol brake down. I'm much more familar with the fuels since I work in the fuel economy group at Chrysler Headquarters. We oxygenated fuels and high rvp, wintergrade, summer blend, and high driveability fuels etc......some of it costs us 50 bucks per gallon. Yikes!!!!! Should I mix the Sea Foam and green label Stabil together???
Thanks!

Guys like Jay and others who tear down many engines a week know better then myself about the oils and ash content, but basically a higher ashing oil like amsoil produces alot more smoke then say the merc prem plus which is low ashing, and will leave a lil more gunk in the exhaust chest, which epending on you hard usage and time between rebuilds could cause a back pressure problem if left too long.
Seems to me Jay has had some real success with the penzoild blends, which is great because they are a shelf item in the states unfortunatly not in canada. I was running the penzoild xlf(extended life formula) but i was unhappy just with he amount of smoke it produced and personnaly opinion.
Maybe check out the alisyn line of oils, as a member here at SnF you get a lil discount i believe. lots a boys like the pro power 21 which is biodegradable, apparently it smells great.
Good luck its more personal preferance with these oils then performance.

Hey guys!
Without starting a new thread or should I? How many fuel filters on my 1999 225 EFI BlueWater Mercs. I see the spin with the sensor in the bottom of but is there one in a unit called the VST as well?? If so how hard is the other filter to change?
Thanks!
Bugsy
