View Full Version : Mercury Tech power head removal

i'm trying to take my 83 2.0 150's power head off.have the lifting ring on it,the cherry picker hooked up,took four 9/16 nuts off the back,under the power head,and two 9/16 nuts under the front of the power head.i tryed to lift the power head off and it wouldn't budge.did i forget something?what do i do?

Also disconnect shift shaft ,and add some gentle persuasion .

if the shift shaft is to be disconnected ,then the exhaust plate plate comes off with the power head?to bolts in the back?a nut on each side?

Shift shaft at front ,i think it has a 7/16 nut ?? .Exhaust plate doesnt come off with power head . there should be 2 more nuts towards the front on the trunk does that make sense ?

like this?i disconnected the shifter from the rail its rides in with the cable.

Yes re the shifter .Did you find the other nuts ?

i think i missed four 5/8 nuts ,two on each side of the mid,i'll be back.

They all should be 9/16 .Start by gently leavering a screwdriver wrapped in a rag under the rear studs to break the seal
