I have a 2005 mercury 90 hp inline 3 cylinder that i am thinking about putting on a 15' hydrostream viper. How can i modify this engine to achieve more horsepower thus more speed? I want it to run 70 mph if possible. Is that possible with this engine? Please give me all the things I can do to it. Is boring the cylinders feasible? What about tuning the exhaust? Will high performance reeds make much of a difference? Also give me any advice on proper setup and props. Thanks!

Those I-3s don't have a removable cylinder head, sell it and buy a V6 if you want any noticeable gains.

In the 90 hp range you are better off with a Suzuki or Yamaha 3 cylinder. Better results without the weight of a V-6 with a V-4.

Nothing you can really do for that Merc
