I am looking at buying a late 80ish 2.4 175 block he thinks.
block is complete less crank, I want to put my 86 150 blackmax crank in this block, Ive been told they are the same.
part 2 to this disc. is what changes the 2.4 from 175 to 200+?
is it in the head intake or a combo?
Hate to sound stupid but the only way to lear is ask:o

175 has vertical reeds 200 has horizontal, tunner,heads,intake,carb cal. may be some others as well.

I thougt reeds might be part of the story too, thanks for the info.
I have 2 tuners now one is shorter then the other wich one should I run?

I would think the short one. Probably a good idea to talk to an engine builder that has done hop-ups to a 175. If you don't build it right you could wind up with less than 175HP. Sometimes the wrong combos just kill hp. I would think, cut heads, good reeds, correct tunner would get you close to 200hp. Best to find out from someone thats been there done it.

thanks for your info, I gues what I'm trying to find out is what the diff between a 2.4 175hp, a 2.4 200hp, 2.4 225 ect.
Is there different ports or is it all in the head, reeds, carbs,and other bolt ons.
If a 175hp 2.4 block has different ports then a 200 then putting head, reeds, carbs, ect. off a 200 won't nessesarly net me 200 on my 175 block????
thanks again for the input sofar I'm going to learn this stuff one way or another, I would rather do it with my key board then with my wallet & wrenches...:thumbsup:

Most if not all 200 & 225's had chrome cyls, 200's 5 petal horizontal reeds, 225 7 petal hoizontal reeds. I think around 84 up hp was rated at prop, prior to that hp rating was at powerhead.
Not sure about porting, someone will know for sure.

Late 80`s 175 2.4 chrome block is same as 200 2.4 and front half will interchange.

I know the 2.4 bridgport has differ. port set up, just wasn't sure about the rest
